Job Summary
Entry level engineering position, with relatively little or no experience. Under close supervision, responsible for performing simple engineering tasks and calculations, as required by the department.
Job Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise during the identification, investigation, and resolution of off normal equipment conditions to ensure safe plant operations and preserve equipment design margins. Monitor, trend, and assess component performance using predictive maintenance technologies to improve equipment reliability. Participate in on-line work week meetings, develop equipment matrices for outage scoping, and provide technical support for complex troubleshooting activities. Develop repair plans for components, support long term asset management strategies, initiate design changes to improve plant operations, review failure analyses, perform causal evaluations, and provide technical oversight during vendor refurbishments. Support developing major equipment maintenance windows as project coordinators. Component engineering will also manage the preventative maintenance basis for components and optimizing the program based on as-found conditions.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required Skills:
BS Degree in Engineering with 0-5 years Nuclear experience or equivalent. Recent graduates must possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 and provide a copy of their college transcript. Good oral/communication for interfacing with a diverse work force. Good written communication skills for development of Program documents, technical procedures and technical evaluations. The engineer must posses the ability to become adept in using and interpreting data from surveillances and ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Ability to support shift work during refueling outage, forced outages, and access industrial areas of nuclear power plant. Must meet Nuclear requirements for unescorted site access.
Desired Skills
Five years Nuclear experience, SRO license/certification, System, Program or Design Engineering experience. Knowledgeable in one or more of the following areas: Motor Operated Valves, Air Operated Valves, Check Valves, Relief Valves.
