Job Summary

The Work Week Specialist (Rad Pro) is responsible for coordination, execution and completion of all scheduled work for Rad Pro department.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: analysis and evaluation of radiological survey data, review and input to schedules, work orders/plans, procedures and designs, preparation of dose estimates, preparation of ALARA plans, performance of Work -In-Progress and Post-job ALARA reviews, performance of in-field observations and evaluations, conduct of ALARA planning sessions, meetings and briefings, preparation and evaluation of dose tracking reports and active participation in the PSEG corrective action program.

Responsibilities also include the research, design, development, and implementation or oversight of implementation of methods, techniques, and technologies to monitor and optimize personnel radiological safety including, but not limited to the following: permanent and temporary shielding, remote monitoring (tele-dosimetry in conjunction with audio and video communications), robotics, camera systems and cameras, source term reduction methodologies, chemical decontamination, engineering controls (HEPA ventilation systems and vacuums, containment enclosures, contamination control via fixatives, etc.), computerized radiological survey documentation and retrieval, radiation protection application software, portable gamma spectroscopy, remote radiological survey technologies, etc.

Interface responsibilities will require the Sr. ALARA Specialist to actively and effectively engage all production and production support organizations (Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, Engineering, Outage Services, Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Rad Waste, Security, NOS, station support vendors, etc.) at all levels of the organization (operators, technicians, supervisors, managers, senior managers, etc.). Individual will serve as a mentor to less experienced members of the RP and ALARA organization when required by management. Additionally, the individual will be required to interface with external agencies and stakeholders (INPO, NRC, ANI, NSRB, etc.) as directed by management.

Job Specific Qualifications

REQUIRED:

BS degree and 3 years radiation protection experience at a commercial nuclear power station, 5 years of radiation protection experience at a US commercial nuclear power station, or service in the Naval Nuclear Program and 3 years radiation protection experience at a commercial nuclear power station. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software products. Must be able to obtain/maintain unescorted site access at Nuclear.
