Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist in developing and proposing future transmission and distribution system upgrades required to maintain bulk power system reliability for the short and long range planning horizons. This position requires close interaction for coordination of future expansion plans with the PJM Regional Transmission Organization planning group. Work function includes power system simulation studies, determination of feasibility and scope for proposed direct generation and merchant transmission interconnection and network enhancements as well as baseline transmission expansion projects impacting the PSE&G bulk power system. The job function would include engineering analysis to evaluate the timing of transmission reinforcements to ensure the reliability and economic operation of the bulk power system, performing complex power system engineering studies to determine the PSEG transmission system limitations (thermal, voltage, short-circuit, and stability), operating capability and performing short range planning analysis and analyze potential operating limitations and develop operating procedures to guide the system operators. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG business controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal controls.

This is a Work Experience Program (WEP) Temporary position designed to support the department for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the position is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of at least 12 months based on business needs at the present time, following which there will be a possibility to convert the individual from a Temporary At-Will Employee to Regular At-Will Employee. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this WEP employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 12months of assignment. If your WEP position ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. in Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years of Utility experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
  • Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be willing to work OT as Required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office applications
  • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects/encourages all aspects of diversity
  • Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.

Desired:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • System planning experience in a utility environment with knowledge in Regional Transmission Organization planning and operating criteria
  • Knowledge of electric transmission and distribution operations, familiarity with inside/outside plant assets and experience in interpreting one-line diagrams, electrical and civil construction drawings
  • Working knowledge of power flow, short circuit, stability and loss of load probabilistic too
