Job Summary

Responsible for shaping the analytics architecture strategy to enrich PSEG’s data connectivity and creating the architecture to enhance reporting capabilities. The Director will oversee the planning and execution of all data architecture activities, including coordinating and directing the design, development, and implementation of data analytics solutions.  The Director will motivate a team of data analysts and scientists focusing on the delivery of analyses, processes, and reporting and transforming data into information that can be used to make fact-based decisions to support IT operations. The Director will need to inform critical data governance issues and partner with business and IT leads to ensure data is accessible in the right format and fit for purpose.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and IT teams to understand analytics use cases and develop the right systems, data, standards, and SLAs to deliver against use cases
  • Direct the selection, availability, and use of applications, systems, and tools to manage risk profile and SLAs of Advanced Analytics services
  • Ensure data is accessible for reporting and analytics and can be translated into actionable insights for the senior leadership and business teams
  • Create and support a culture of decision-making based on analytic insights by defining KPIs, identifying competitive toolsets and implementing best practices
  • Manage team performance, coach and mentor team members, and develop a succession plan for the group 
  • Track emerging trends in data analytics and predictive modeling and identify opportunities to improve data management capabilities

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Analytics, Econometrics, or equivalent required
  • 10+ years of industry experience in data science or advanced analytics
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Utility Analytics and data solution development
  • Experience with data science and advanced data techniques
  • Expertise in data architecture, data quality metrics, data analytics capabilities, AI, and data lakes
  • Understands various database structures and common methods in data transformation
  • Ability to design data analytics standards and systems and define SLAs to support business teams
  • Ability to drive process and operating model change through usage of greater data analytics insights
  • Ability to clearly convey and visualize complex data into business insights
  • Ability to foster a company culture that promotes decision-making based on data analytics insights
  • Ability to work effectively across functions, levels, and disciplines
  • Possesses strong financial acumen and can help shape and optimize around $4-6M budget for the function

Desired

  • MBA / Master’s degree
  • Experience in computer programming and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Hadoop)
  • Demonstrated experience with developing data strategy, policies, and procedures, as well as successfully executing programs that meet or exceed expectations in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in data analytics, data science, and predictive modeling, including AI and machine learning
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; willing to keep an open mind and examine ideas / concepts from as many angles as possible
  • Strong data presentation and communication skills
  • Flexibility with respect to changing end-user business needs
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software and systems
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and ensure they are completed in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
