Assistant Counsel -Federal Regulatory

Job Summary

This position reports to PSEG’s Deputy General Counsel & RTO Strategy Officer and is responsible for advising and representing the PSEG Companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other federal agencies and provides day-to-day advice on federal regulatory matters, including transmission policy/rates, interconnection and markets issues. The position also provides legal support in connection with RTO/ISO matters and in ongoing Transmission Owner working groups.

Please note, this position may be located in Newark, New Jersey or Washington, DC; work will be hybrid/remote .

Job Specific Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's Degree
•    Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school in the United States
•    Admitted to the bar in at least one state or the District of Columbia
•    A minimum of five (5) years of experience working on regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, regulatory matters before state utility commissions and/or at an RTO/ISO or similar experience

Desired Qualifications and Competencies:
•    Experience in proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and/or state utility commissions and experience preparing and submitting energy regulatory filings/pleadings.
•    Experience with in-house corporate law department, law firm, regulatory agency or RTO/ISO
•    Experience with FERC transmission rates, planning, policy, interconnection and/or markets issues
•    Experience with RTO/ISO Tariff rules 
•    Experience with compliance issues, including affiliate rules, standards of conduct, and/or NERC
