Job Summary

Reports to the Vice-President Legal and is responsible for the overall management of the Corporate Ethics and Compliance function and for leading the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of  the compliance program for PSEG Long Island.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an independent and effective corporate compliance program that ensures appropriate policies and procedures are in place for PSEG Long Island to provide for accountability on compliance responsibilities across all functions of PSEG Long Island, including New York state regulation of LIPA
  • Maintain close working relationships  with PSEG Long Island senior management and compliance liaisons in various business units throughout PSEG Long Island; network with colleagues from professional associations and other companies to share information on industry risks and benchmark best practices
  • Proactively inform  and oordinate with PSEG Long Island's Vice President - Legal with respect to compliance matters to ensure the provision of prompt, practical advice and to ensure matters are brought to closure.          
  • Lead and maintain a centralized compliance function with oversight responsibility for interpreting and interpreting and implementing  standards for records retention, data privacy and  investigations
  • Develop and maintain a catalogue of compliance responsibilities, responsible individuals and processes for compliance
  • Develop and maintain processes to remain aware of compliance trends, risks and changes in compliance responsibilities that may result from changes in laws, policies or changes in the business and addressing those trends, risks and changes as part of an effective corporate compliance program
  • Evaluate compliance processes and procedures for effectiveness. Train, advise and consult with operating personal  on compliance responsibilities

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Juris Doctorate degree with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Management experience and experience leading a compliance function
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with senior management, business leads and peers on a wide range of complex and confidential matters
  • Ability to work independently, be resourceful and solution-oriented
  • Proven professionalism, integrity, reliability and accountability
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters at all levels of the organization with discretion and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with the utility business operations
