Job Summary

Work independently to manage the data integrity and adherence to Plan Documents for the Defined Benefit (Qualified and Non-Qualified), and Defined Contribution Plans. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operational tasks such as; delegation and monitoring vendor partners regarding plan implementation, resolution of systemic participant issues, serve as SME for Plan specific questions, lead internal/external audits, review benefit calculations for both Qualified and Non-Qualified Plans, implement audits of employee deferrals and employer contribution, review/develop participant communications, manage special projects, perform periodic reconciliations to ensure all activities are in compliance with Plan Provisions, administrative requirements, and government regulations, SOX Controls and work with legal to file VCPs.

Job Responsibilities

•Lead and/or implement SOX Controls/routine audits for the pension (Qualified and NQ) and 401(k) plans and act as point person for internal/external audits. This includes successfully identifying, tracking, and resolving root-cause of data issues while collaborating with other departments, vendors, and/or IT to develop improved processes. Also includes, drafting communications to participants and presenting issues to leadership and appropriate Committees when required. Evaluate all reoccurring projects with an eye towards process improvement to identify, analyze, and implement more efficient and robust processes. Maintain process documents •Resolution of systemic/complex participant issues; conduct research, work with IT, vendors, and/or internal groups to determine root cause, coordinate participant account cleanup with vendors, draft presentations/present to leadership and various Committees, work with Legal to file necessary VCPs. Communicate with employees, retirees, and union leaders to close out issues and provide benefit education as needed •Lead all aspects of the data integrity and adherence to the Plan Documents for the Defined Benefit (DB), Defined Contribution (DC), and Other Post Employment Benefits (OPEB) plans. Project manage initiatives, lead cross functional teams, demonstrate leadership, and meet all deliverables within established deadlines •Act as the SME; respond to day-to-day administrative team's higher level questions, review participant communications (SPDs, SMMs, web portal, etc.), review annual projects (5500s, PBGC, AFN, SAR, AFDN, etc.) as requested by day-to-day administrative team •Project manage plan implementations, vendor changes, enhancements, new legislation changes, and special projects specific to DB and DC plans within identified timelines. This includes reviewing legal plan documents, SMMs or summary plan description (SPD), vendor plan documentation and requirements, and plan changes are communicated to internal stakeholders •Review benefit calculations for both Qualified and Non-Qualified Plans •Engage procurement and vendors to develop project plans and associated scopes of work as necessary. Monitor vendor budgets vs actual invoices •Lead reoccurring projects; Proxy (review of retirement benefits sections), union official funding calculations, review of pensionable pay in connection with status as of bonus payout date, annual RMD review, review financial reporting retirement benefits sections, etc. •

Job Specific Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:
•8 plus years of actuarial or benefits experience •Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Finance/Accounting, or related field
Other Basic Qualifications
•Advanced system skills/knowledge in Excel •Intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills •Strong analytical skills and superior attention to detail •Experience in data management and reconciliations •Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance •Ability to interpret plan provisions from plan documents, summary plan documents, or other related plan materials •Self-motivated individual that ensures final work products are of high quality, complete, and provided in a timely fashion •Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects at one time •Ability to understand detailed pension benefit calculations •Knowledge of ERISA, PPA, SOX regulations and social security, as related to pension and 401(k) plans •Strong Interpersonal Skills, including written and oral communication •Occasional travel to Long Island
Desired Qualifications:
•Vendor relations/management skills •Knowledge of SAP •CEBS or CBP desirable •Microsoft Access
