Job Summary

This is a "Project" position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

Job Responsibilities

• As a member of PSE&G's Gas Operations Quality Control and Assurance group, observe and document construction tasks, safety procedures and customer interactions that occur on PSE&G crew and contractor work sites. Ensure adherence to approved gas construction standards, safety equipment use and safe work procedures in the effort to achieve the highest criteria for quality. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Construction and Safety Standards, Emergency Response policies and procedures and recognize, stop and correct conditions or circumstances as appropriate. Recognize and document the degree and employment of ability, skills, and expertise of associates and contractors as individuals and as part of a crew to perform particular tasks in a manner that meets company expectations. Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements applied to gas construction, leak management and NJ One Call Requirements and report on the status of compliance of regulated functions. Conduct quality auditing, surveillance, observations and evaluations; may perform self-assessments. Observe and record trench size, backfill cushion, backfill compaction lifts, etc. Verify and document requirements for and use of NJ One Call, permitting, 911 response-mandatory notifications, (BPU, etc.) GDS and PSEG Safety Standard adherence. Document and report areas requiring repair or review as a possible acceptable exception to a normal standard using automated reporting applications. May participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans, root-cause analyses and lessons learned as well as data analysis, mitigation and report preparation and presentation. As an employee of PSE&G, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work in an alternate location.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

BS/BA or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years quality assurance control experience related to construction/project management.
Minimum 5 years working on moderate to large projects
Analytical with regard to processes; strategic thinking skills
Proven management experience; strong communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities
Understanding of PSEG Standards and requirements; ability to inspect and evaluate all aspects of the tasks being performed when on-site - safety, communication, operations, restoration
Knowledge of methods and equipment used in equipment calibration to ensure critical tolerances are acceptable regarding fusion, welding, atmospheric and gas testing equipment, etc.
Decision-Making - must have the ability to recognize, stop and correct working conditions as appropriate.
Must possess and exercise sound judgment; be self-directed with proven professionalism, teamwork and cooperation
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement with a focus on measurement of results; demonstrated sound leadership behaviors; ability to promote effective integration of efforts between groups
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Safety sensitive position; DOT testing required
