Technology Professional - Network Operations Center (NOC)

PSEG has a full-time opportunity in our Information Technology organization located in Newark, NJ. This is an entry level role that provides the opportunity to be involved in meaningful work/projects throughout the Information Technology organization. This position prepares candidates for advanced information technology positions through challenging assignments and allows them to develop their skills and launch an exciting career in information technology. The Network Operation Center (NOC) is a 24x7 area which provides monitoring of our technology infrastructure, there is a current opening in our overnight shift. The NOC is the point of contact and escalation for network related incidents. Candidate will analyze simple to complex network incidents and determine the appropriate resolution to problems and makes suggestions for improvements and/or determines if vendor assistance is required. The NOC will work closely with clients, technical staff, vendors and management in problem solving. The NOC is responsible participating in major incident management activities, identifying network performance issues, and trending analysis. Candidate will initiates and coordinate corrective actions for incidents. Performs related duties as assigned or requested

Job Responsibilities

•Learn network/LAN design and implementation for data and converged communications infrastructure based largely on Cisco equipment networking technologies. Participate in Network improvement projects and provide support services to assist internal client organizations in the pursuit of their business objectives. Participate in requirements gathering, solutions design, systems configuration and development for a variety of Networking, cloud and wireless solutions. •Acquire wireless and mobile technology skills in a highly collaborative organization. Participate in network, security and wireless projects and improve productivity of internal client organizations and customers by deploying new hardware technology solutions focused on a combination of on premises and cloud based implementations. •Work as a team member on projects related to network security and firewall improvement implementations. Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, testing and moving new systems into production. •Learn to execute Infrastructure projects through the PSEG's Project Development Life Cycle (PDLC) and CMMI inclusive of identifying, specifying and analyzing business requirements and processes and managing progress throughout the hardware design, test and implementation process.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information/Computer Security, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Miniimum 3.0 GPA
•• Experience administering, configuring, and troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls.
• Experience working with vendors and carriers for troubleshooting and resolving problems.
• Knowledge of supporting cloud infrastructure deployments and maintenance.
• Network Operations are 24 x 7. This is an overnight shift 11PM-7AM, shift rotation may be required.
Desired:

• Computer or network related certifications Cisco CCNA or CCNP preferred.
• ServiceNow experience preferred.
• Overall strong technical proficiency in information technology/computer disciplines.
• Strong MS Office skills (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
• Experience working with or related coursework in .NET, HTML, SQL, Java, Java scripting or Object Oriented Design.
• Self-starting with the demonstrated ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.
• Detail oriented and demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, IT management and staff.
