Job Summary
This role will ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and goals by developing frameworks to evaluate and prioritize projects based on operational, financial, regulatory, and environmental criteria. The manager will lead cross-functional teams, including asset management, engineering, T&D and Customer operations, and regulatory to assess project viability, risk, and impact on the utility’s infrastructure and customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team of analysts to oversee the Investment Description and Scoring (IDS) module in the Spend Optimization Suite (SOS) to ensure investments are scored consistently and effectively. Incorporate factors such as risk, cost, benefit, regulatory compliance, asset health, load, and customer impact into the prioritization process.
- Maintain and update the prioritization framework to reflect changes in business strategy, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and financial analysts to understand project scopes, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Lead cross-functional workshops and forums across all LOBs to align stakeholders on portfolio priorities.
- Collaborate with the subject matter experts to establish the quality controls for investment scoring process.
- Obtain and update the O&M impact of a capital investment throughout the project’s life cycle.
- Monitor portfolio performance metrics, such as SAIFI/SAIDI, ROI, and asset condition indices. This position will lead the Project Council meeting to ensure proper vetting of the projects.
- Present recommendations to executives and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic vision. Continuously evaluate and improve the project prioritization process to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Job Specific
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics or related degree with 8 + years of experience working for a utility in an asset management, operations or regulated environment. In lieu of degree 12 years of experience working for a utility in an asset management or operations or regulated environment.
- Ability to translate detail into clear, concise, insightful executive communications. Knowledge of reliability metrics (e.g. SAIFI, SAIDI), asset health indices, and their application in capital planning. Ability to work independently and with others.
- 3 + years of supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Advance degree (MBA).
- Project management experience and PMP certification.
- Certification in Asset Management (e.g., IAM or ISO 55001).
- Experience with portfolio optimization tools.
