This is a multi-level growth series position. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process, as they meet the criteria defined below.

The Environmental Services Specialist (ESS) role is to support the electric division's Sr. Environmental Specialists (SES) and Resource Recovery Specialists (RRS) in daily compliance activities. The ESS will be responsible for overseeing contractor work in the field including spill cleanups, environmental equipment and structure maintenance, waste classification sampling, waste management/disposal and provide documentation to the SES. The ESS will be responsible for the inspections of unmanned substations pertaining to regulatory programs such as Spill Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (SPCC), storm water, hazardous waste and TSCA waste management. They will document these inspections in accordance with all applicable regulations and PSE&G company policy and provide this documentation to the SES. The ESS will assist the Resource Recovery Specialist with environmental waste management at electric division facilities. This will include inspection of waste containers to determine location, condition, capacity and appropriate required labeling. The ESS will review and sign waste manifests when RSS is not available as directed by RSS and SES. The ESS will assist with emergency related spill activities on an on call basis and as needed when available, including storm events where their assistance is mandatory as consistent with PSE&G policy. The ESS will assess opportunities for compliance and cost saving efficiencies.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of small, unmanned substations pertaining to regulatory programs such as SPCC, storm water, and hazardous waste management • Assist with inspections of complex unmanned/manned substations/switches pertaining to regulatory programs such as SPCC, storm water, and hazardous waste management • Assisting with environmental waste management at electric division facilities • Assist with emergency related spill activities on an on call basis and as needed when available • Assess opportunities for compliance and cost saving efficiencies • Assist in filing of waste manifests and completion of logs related to compliance activities

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:
• High School diploma • 0-4 years of Utility-related waste management and/or compliance-related experience • Strong computer skills in PC applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Tableau • Good oral and written communications skills • Knowledge of applicable engineering, construction standards, regulations and best business practices • Must posess and maintain a valid drivers license

Desired:
• Bachelors Degree in science or engineering • Understanding of regulatory guidelines pertaining to environmental waste management, spills, and compliance
