This is a multi-level growth series position. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process, as they meet the criteria defined below.

The Environmental Oversight Specialist I position will conduct environmental compliance evaluations of various small construction project locations and unmanned facilities throughout the Utility. These inspections of projects/unmanned facilities may include but are not limited to: large power transformer, high voltage switch gear, and emergency generator installations/replacements and steady state environmental compliance inspections against onsite permit conditions of substation and switch yards. The lines of business within the Utility include: Electric Distribution, Electric Transmission, Electric Projects and Construction, Solar, Gas Operations, Gas Construction, Vegetation Maintenance, and Asset Management. The primary purpose of the position is to assist the utility in complying with company procedures and federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Compliance assistance will be achieved by the Environmental Oversight Specialist I by conducting regular assessments and inspections which will be recorded and distributed by the Utility's SERIM system and/or equivalent. The Environmental Oversight Specialist I will also assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual report summaries to senior management which may include but are not limited to: Notice of Violations, Agency Contact Memorandums, Environmental Incident Analysis, and Utility Spill Reporting. Lastly, the Environmental Oversight Specialist I will assist in conducting annual CRTK/EPCRA evaluations.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform Environmental and Permitting Inspections at small routine projects or unmanned facilites for each Utility Line of Business (Project/Construction). • Perform Operations and Maintenance Inspections including SPCC, storm water, generator and waste inspections, CRTK/EPCRA. • Conduct Corporate Reporting. • Perform Procedure, SERIM and Guidance Updates. • Assist with emergency related spill activities on an on call basis and as needed when available. • Evaluate opportunities for compliance and cost saving efficiencies.

Job Specific Qualifications

0-2 years of utility-related environmental compliance oversight

Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental or related field

Basic understanding of construction and engineering standards
Basic knowledge of environmental regulations related to waste management; hazardous substance discharges; right to know; land use; Spill Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (SPCC); and general air compliance
Strong computer skills in PC applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Tableau
Good oral and written communications skills
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
