Job Summary

The Distribution Business Team Member's overall responsibility is to support various underground team tasks, including electrical design and specification for outside plant underground equipment and accessories.

Job Responsibilities

•Provide technical support to electric field divisions on technical issues and problems. •Focus on safety, reliability, and functional performance requirements. Duties to include, but not limited to: writing and revising material and equipment specifications, writing and revising underground construction standards, investigation of cable and equipment failures to include dissections, analysis and reporting, root Cause analysis, system design and layout, including bonding and grounding of cables, low voltage secondary network (grid and spot) design and analysis, remote monitoring systems and technology, and technical assistance during storm restoration. •Process system data and perform analysis and studies. Evaluate and recommend UG system enhancements and process improvements. • Develop and maintain policy and procedures for the UG distribution system. •Coordinate and conduct field validation as necessary. •Evaluate and respond to issues, incidents, open items and requests originating internally and externally from the organization. • Update and monitor PSE&G UG data and reports, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the system. •Participate in training sessions across the utility required for business system use. •Travel to various sites throughout PSE&G electric service territory will be required.

Job Specific Qualifications

• BS / BA Degree or equivalent experience • Minimum of five years of electrical utility experience and knowledge of electrical distribution equipment and operations, e.g., cable, transformers, switchgear, capacitor banks, and associated electrical system for outside plant electric distribution systems. • Applicant must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and be results-oriented. • Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills are essential. • Ability to cover "on call" assignments to handle emergency replacement work and assist during system emergency situations • Must have a valid driver's license • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity • Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices Desired: • Minimum of 5 years underground experience. • B.S in Electrical Engineering. • Experience in low voltage (600 to 2000 V), medium voltage (5 kV to 26 kV), and high voltage (69 kV) voltage cables, compounds, and accessories. Knowledge of conventional and BUD cables (EPR, TRXLPe, PILC, LPGF), Joints (taped, pre-molded, heat shrink, and cold shrink), Terminations (heat shrink, cold shrink, porcelain, and epoxy), Manholes and conduits (sizing, grating, construction, cable pulling tension, sidewall pressure, and lubrication), Medium voltage pad mounted and submersible switchgear and fusing including oil filled cutouts, cable ampacity ratings for normal, emergency, and short circuit durations, Asset reliability analysis and reporting. • Familiarity with utility best practices, IEEE, NESC and NEMA Standards. • Knowledge of company or other industry engineering and design standards. • Industry Committee membership (NEUC, IEEE/PES/ICC, AEIC, etc.) experience.
