Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day administration, technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, patching, performance and overall health of an enterprise data analytics platform within an AWS/Serverless/clustered linux server environment. Ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems. Respond effectively to the continuing demands for information 24/7 by business clients, contractors, and other areas of IT.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

* Comply with policies and procedures for the administration of the data analytics platform, maintenance and upgrades of platform/extension software (starburst, tableau, etc...), and oversight of backups of all platform storage. Establish and maintain schemas for user tests and production purposes (i.e., Redshift, AWS Glue, Starburst).
* Work closely with business clients in understanding data access requirements and ensuring proper performance of transactions within the data platform in support of complex business application development requirements and processes
* Develops and implements CI/CD processes for build, testing, and deployment of data pipelines into the platform.
* Monitors data platform for performance issues and implements solutions for on-going platform maintenance
* Work closely with Product Managers and vendors on new systems, enhancements, and upgrades to the data platform environment
* Proactively seek out ways to improve performance and streamline data platform environment
* Ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems therein
* Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution
* Installs, modifies, maintains, and configures aws service high availability (HA) options.
* Assists in troubleshooting issues affecting platform reliability and uptime availability.
 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
•    A minimum of 4 years of experience with SQL-based databases and /or datalakes
•    Experience in AWS tools and services, data analytics and BI tools, databases and/or datalakes
•    Knowledge of the software development lifecycle
•    Solid knowledge of business processes
•    Demonstrated analytical skills
•    Strong communication skills both verbal and written
•    Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions 
•    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients and all levels of staff
•    Experience in building OR deploying python-based applications

•    Experience implementing off the shelf products
•    Experience with mission critical technology solutions
•    Ability to lead teams with a leadership mindset
•    Experience with AWS Data Analytics services (Glue, Athena, Redshift, LakeFormation, etc…)
•    Experience with federated query engines (Starburst/Trino, Presto/Prestissimo, Apache Ranger)
•    Experience with serverless application deployments (Lambda, Azure functions, GCP functions)
